Moses and Israelites sang this song to the Lord:
“I will sing to the Lord, because He has won a glorious victory; He has thrown the horses and their riders into the sea. The Lord is My strong defender; He is the one who has saved me. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my Father’s God, and I will sing about His greatness. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is His name. Lord, who among the gods is like You, wonderful in holiness? Who can do miracles and mighty acts like Yours? You stretched out Your right hand, and the earth swallowed up our enemies. Being faithful, You had rescued all Your people; Your strength led them to Your sacred land. The nations heard You and are trembling with fear. You bring the people into the Temple which You have chosen for Your home. You Lord will be king forever and ever.”
Miriam the prophetess, also the sister of Aaron, sang for all women who followed her with tambourines and dancing: “Sing to the Lord, because he has won a glorious victory.”
Moses led the people of Israel from the Red Sea to go to Shur for three days, but then they found no water in the wilderness. When they came to Marah, the water there was so bitter that they couldn’t drink it. The people complained to Moses and he prayed earnestly to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. When he threw it into the water; and the water became fit to drink.
There the Lord gave them laws to live by, and tested them. “If you will obey me completely by doing what I consider right and keeping commands, I will not punish you with any diseases that I brought on the Egyptians. I am the Lord, the one who heals you.”
Next they traveled to Elim, where there were 12 springs and 70 palm trees and camped beside the water
