It came to pass in Amraphel, Arioch, Chedorlaomer, and Tidal’s days that war had been made with Bera, Birsha, Shinab, Shemeber, and Zoar, Bela’s king. All these men gathered together in the Salt Sea. They served Chedorlaomer for 12 years straight and they fought in the 13th year. In the14 th year, Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him came and fought the Rephaim in Ashtoreth Karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim, and the Horites in Seir’s mountain, which was by the wilderness and far away from El Paran. Then they turned and came to En Mishpat, and fought the Amalekites and their whole country, and the Amorites who resided in Hazezon Tamar. The kings of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah Zeboiim, and Bela went out in battle at the Valley of Siddim; 4 against the 5 kings. Now the Valley of Siddim was full of asphalt in small pits, and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah ran away; some ran there while some remaining ran to the mountains.
Then they took both kings’ goods and provisions with their brother Lot, Abram’s brother’s son who resided in Sodom with his goods and departed on their way. One who had run came and told Abram, for he resided by Mamre’s terebinth trees, and they were close allies with Abram. When Abram heard that his brother was taken into captivity, he protected his 318 servants who were born in his own house and escaped as the city of Dan. He separated his forces against them by night, and he with his servants fought and pursued against them as far as Hobah, north of the city of Damascus. He sent back the goods with his brother Lot with his goods, the women, and people. Melchizedek brought out the bread and wine; he was the priest of the Most High God. He blessed Abram as His possessor, and the Most High God, who is the Lord of heaven and earth. Melchizedek gave Abram a tithe. But Sodom said to Abram to give him the persons and to take goods for himself and that Abram raised his hand to the earth to take nothing more.
