Genesis Chapter 14 Bible Study

Four kings of Elam, Goiin, Babylonia, and Ellasar went to war against five other kings of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim, and Bela who joined forces in Siddim Valley, which is now the Dead Sea. They had been under the control of Chedorlaamer, king of Elam, for 12 years, but in the 13th year, and they fought against him. In the 14th year, Chedorlaomer and his allies conquered and defeated them. The four kings took everything in Sodom and Gomorrah and captured Lot, Abram’s nephew. But an escaped man reported all this to Abram. He called all 318 men into camp, pursued the four kings to Dan, attacked and defeated them and brought back Lot, his nephew, and all of his possessions with the women and other prisoners.

When Abram came back with his victory, the king of Sodom met him in Shaveh Valley. Melchizedek, king of Salem and a priest of the Most High God, brought bread and wine to Abram, saying, “May the Most High God bless Abram and give you victory over your enemies; be praised!” Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of all his loot. 

The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Keep the loot, but give me back all of my people.” Abram replied, “I solemnly swear before the Lord that I won’t keep anything of yours. I will take nothing and accept only what my men have used; let my allies take the full share.”
