Genesis Chapter 13 Bible Study

Abram went north out of Egypt to the south side of Canaan with his wife, Lot, and everything he owned. Abram had sheep, goats, cattle, silver and gold. He was going toward Bethel. He went to the place between Bethel and Ai where he set up camp and worshiped the Lord. Then Lot also had sheep, goats and cattle, his own family and servants. There wasn’t enough space for the animals to live together and the quarrels started between the men who took care of all the animals, so they separated. Abram had Lot choose first. Lot departed away from the east and chose the whole Jordan Valley, like the Garden of the Lord or the land of Egypt. 

Abram stayed in Canaan, and Lot stayed in the cities near Sodom where people were sinning against the Lord. The Lord said to Abram after Lot left, “Look carefully. I am giving you and your descendants the land, and it shall be yours forever.” After Abram had left camp, he moved to Hebron near the sacred trees of Mamre and built an altar to the Lord.
