Leviticus Chapter 7 Bible Study
These are the regulations of the repayment offerings; they are very holy. The animal for the offering is to be killed on the altar’s north side where the animals for the burnt offerings have been killed and its blood shall be sprinkled all around on the altar. Its fat will be removed and offered near the altar: the fat tail near the entrails, the internal organs’ fat, the kidneys and the fat on them by the flanks, and the liver. The priest shall burn all the fat on the altar as a food offering to the Lord which shall be represented as a repayment offering. Any male families for the priest may eat it in a holy place because the offering is holy. There is one regulation for both the sin offering and repayment offering: the meat, animal skins and grain offerings belong to the priest who offers his sacrifice. All uncooked grain offerings that are equally divided shall belong to the Aaronite priests.
The following are the regulations for the fellowship offerings presented to the Lord.
- If you bring a fellowship offering as a thanksgiving offering, you shall present together with the sacrificed animal and one of each or part of the bread made without yeast, either thick or thin cakes or cakes made of flour being mixed with olive oil. In addition, you shall offer bread loaves baked with yeast. Consume everything on the day of sacrifice and do not remain until the next morning.
- If you bring a fellowship offering as a vow or voluntary offering, all of it can be eaten in two days, but remaining on the third day will be burned because God won’t accept your offering if it is eaten on the third day.
- If the meat comes into contact with anything unclean of ritual, it shall be burned, not eaten. Any people that are clean shall eat the meat, but if any of you who are not clean eat it or eat any meat after you have touched something unclean,
- No fat of cattle, sheep or goats shall be eaten. An animal’s fat that has died a natural death or being killed by a wild animal shall not be eaten but used for any other purpose. No matter where the Israelites live, they shall never use the birds’ or animals’ blood as a source of food.
- When any of you offer fellowship offerings, you must offer as a special gift of the animal’s fat with the breast) and contribution of the right hind leg. The blood and fat shall be burned as an offering and the breast and right hind leg will be given to the priest.
Anyone who breaks the regulations will no longer be a part of God’s people. On that day the Lord commanded Israel’s people to give them this part of the offering, which serves as a regulation for all time to come. These are the regulations for the burnt, grain, sin, repayment, ordination and the fellowship offerings which the Lord gave these commands to Moses on Mount Sinai in the desert on the day He told the people of Israel to make their offerings.
