Leviticus Chapter 4 Bible Study

The Lord told Moses to tell the Israelites that anyone who sinned and broke the Lord’s commands unintentionally would have to follow these rules: If the High Priest sins and becomes guilty, he shall present a nondefective bull and offer it as a sacrifice for his sin. Then the High Priest shall take some of the bull’s blood and bring it to the Tent. He will dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it in front of the curtain 7 times. He shall put some of the blood near the projections’ corners of the incense altar in the Tent. He will pour out the blood at the base of the altar for burning sacrifices near the entrance of the Tent. Then he will take all of the bull’s fat, the fat on the internal organs, the kidneys and fat on them, and the best part of the liver. The priest will take all the fat and burn it on the altar used for burnt offerings. But he shall take its skin, flesh, head, legs and internal organs, such as the intestines, carry all outside the camp to the ritually clean place where its ashes are poured out and burn them on a wooden fire.

If the whole community of Israel sins and becomes guilty, they shall bring a young bull as a sin offering to the Tent of the Lord’s presence. The High Priest shall do the same thing with this bull as he does with the bull for the sin offering, and in this way he shall make the sacrifice for the people’s sin, and they will be forgiven. If a ruler sins and becomes guilty, he shall bring a nondefective male goat and kill it near the north side of the altar. This is an offering to take the sin away. The priest shall dip his finger in the animal’s blood, put it on the projections of the altar, and pour the rest of it at the altar’s base and burn the animal’s fat, and the sins shall be forgiven.

If any of you people sin and become guilty, you shall bring a nondefective female goat and kill it near the north side of the altar. If you bring a sheep as a sin offering, it must be a nondefective female. The priest shall do the same thing with this female goat or sheep as he does with the male goat. In this way, the priest shall offer the sacrifice for the man’s sin, and it shall be forgiven.
