Exodus Chapter 23 Bible Study

“ Do not spread bad rumors nor help a guilty person by giving the wrong testimonies. Do not follow the greater number of people when they say or do the wrong things. Do not show favor to a poor person at his trial. If  your enemy’s cow or donkey is running loose or has fallen under its load, help him and don’t walk off.  Do not deny justice to a poor person nor make false accusations nor put an innocent person to death. Do not accept a bribe nor mistreat a foreigner.

For six years, plant your land and gather it for produce. But in the seventh year, let the land rest. The poor and wild animals can have what is left eaten. You shall work six days a week, but no work on the seventh day so your slaves, foreigners, and animals can rest.  Listen to everything that I, the Lord, have said to you. Do not pray to other gods nor even mention their names. Celebrate three festivals a year to honor Me: the Festival of Unleavened Bread in the month you left Egypt, the Harvest Festival, when you begin to harvest your crops  and the Festival of Shelters in the autumn. All men will come to worship Me, the Lord your God.

Do not offer bread made with yeast when you sacrifice an animal to Me. Each year, bring the first grain that you harvest to the house of the Lord. I will send an angel ahead of you to protect you as you travel and to bring you to the place which I have prepared. If you obey him and do everything I command, I will fight against all your enemies. Do not bow down to different gods nor worship them, destroy or break their sacred pillars.

If you worship Me, the Lord, I will bless you with food and water and take away all your sicknesses. No woman shall have a miscarriage or be without children in your land. I will give you long lives. I will send out fear and cause confusion to all the people before you, and make your enemies turn back to you. I will drive out the Hivites, Hittites, and Canaanites as you advance little by little until there are enough of you to take the land. I will extend the border and give you power over the inhabitants of the land. Do not make any agreement with them or their gods. Do not let the people live in your country.”
