Genesis Chapter 6

When people had gathered across the world and all their daughters were being born, the heavenly angels saw that the women were beautiful, so they chose the women whom they liked. The Lord stated, “I won’t allow the people to live forever because they are mortal. From this time on, they can live no longer than 120 years.” There were giants on the earth in those days who were descendants of human women, heavenly beings, heroes and famous men of long ago.  When the Lord found out how bad everyone on earth was and how evil their thoughts were every time, He was sorry that He had created and put them on the earth. He said, “I am going to wipe out all of the people, animals and birds, because I am sorry that I have made any of them.” He was filled with regret, but the Lord was pleased for Noah’s work. 

Noah had Shem, Ham and Japheth, his three sons. Noah didn’t do wrong and was a hardworking man during that time. He was in a good relationship with God, but the others did bad things in God’s sight, and violence was there to make the people bad. God looked at the world carefully and saw that it was bad. God said, “I have decided to put an end to all people of this world and will get rid of them, for the people are living bad lives this way due to their violent nature. Build a boat for yourselves with timber for the whole thing. Build also a roof with 18 inches spaced between the roof and the sides of it with three decks and a door near the side. I am now going to bring a flood on this earth to wipe out every human. Everything will perish, but I shall make a covenant with you; go to the boat with your wife, sons, and sons’ wives,” God declared to Noah. “Carry a male and female animal and bird of any sort to keep them alive. Bring along different kinds of foods for you and them.” Noah listened and did everything that the Lord God had said to him.
